The Modern Party Girl

As party season beckons, and we hunt closets and sales for cocktail dresses, shiny skirts, and flashy heels, remember what style right now is all about: the unexpected.

We shot some of our favorite pieces in unexpected ways to put together looks which will stand out against the brightest of lights.accessories-articele-1-edited

This year’s party girl knows how to make even the wildest of ideas look chic (think Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada – not Lady Gaga in the Poker Face Years), be it a headband as a garter or tube socks with stilettos; she wears it with confidence. How does she do it? Balance; if you do something wild with your styling, keep to a muted color palette; unique styling can become costumey in a minute. 15073506_716423148522197_239146578642240383_n

If you don’t want to go all out, remember the Cinderella principal: it’s all about the shoes, and this year designers have produced some spectacular glass slippers (pardon the pun). Gucci continues to stun with its glamorous mules and chic slides, Aquazzura’s gorgeous lace ups cause foot envy at every turn, and Marie Antoinette-esque pumps rule the runways.
